Silverwood Recruitment Ltd are excited to be working with a Trailblazing Belfast based company, assisting in the recruitment of an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer.

Although working as part of a talented and highly technical team this AWS Cloud Engineer will work in a stand alone position helping to drive the design, implementation and management of the company cloud infrastructure on AWS. As an AWS Cloud Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting our development, deployment and operations teams to ensure the scalability, security and reliability of the company cloud-based applications & services.


The responsibilities of the AWS Cloud Engineer will include but not be limited to:

  1. Ensure the security and compliance of AWS environments by implementing security best practices, encryption, access controls, and auditing mechanisms.
  2. Familiar with Bitbucket Pipeline and Bitbucket administration security.
  3. Design, implement and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure and services to support our software development and deployment processes.
  4. Collaborate with development and operations teams to automate the provisioning, configuration, and deployment of cloud resources using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) like terraform.
  5. Set up and manage AWS networking; including VPCs, subnets, route tables, and security groups, to ensure secure and efficient communication between cloud resources.
  6. Configure and optimise AWS compute services such as EC2 instances, ECS/EKS clusters, Lambda functions and auto-scaling groups to meet performance and scalability requirements.
  7. AWS IoT security best practices.
  8. Implement and manage AWS storage solutions, including S3 buckets, EBS volumes and Glacier archives, to store and retrieve data efficiently and securely.
  9. Monitor the health and performance of AWS resources using native and third-party monitoring tools and implement automated alerting and remediation processes.
  10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, optimise performance and continuously improve our AWS infrastructure and processes.
  11. Stay up to date with AWS services, features, best practices and evaluate new technologies to drive innovation and efficiency in our cloud architecture.
  1. Any other duties as determined reasonable by the Head of Product.



The successful AWS Cloud Engineer should meet the following criteria:

  1. You should have a third level qualification in Computer Science, IT or a related field
  2. You should have a minimum of 2 years experience designing, implementing and managing AWS Cloud Infrastructure & Services
  3. You must have a strong understanding of Networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, VPN and Load Balancing
  4. You should be proficient in in AWS Services such as EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, Lambda and Cloudwatch


Although not essential it would be highly desirable for the AWS Cloud Engineer to hold some AWS Certifications and or Security Speciality Certificates. Experience with Bitbucket, Terraform and EKS/ Kubernetes would also be highly beneficial.
