Electrical Engineer – Belfast – Circa £33,000

Our Trailblazing client have an exciting and rare opportunity for a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join their team of highly talented Engineers where you would be working on some of the most innovative projects and technologies within the renewables arena.

The role will ensure that all aspects of electrical engineering technical support, compliance, design, report writing and associated tasks are met. The role will be both office and field based.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of design in the delivery of electrical engineering consultancy services for a portfolio of projects. This will include undertaking relevant calculations, production of drawings, coordination of sub-contractor designs which are included in the final system design.
  • Review and approval of final drawings.
  • Coordination with client project teams and internal team disciplines within the company including civil, structural, environmental, survey/geotechnical, transport, protection and control.
  • Provide client liaison.
  • Conduct construction stage duties.
  • Provide client designs and reports to a high standard.
  • Assist with faulting finding during or after commissioning of systems.
  • Work safely on electrical installations to fit and remove Power Monitoring Equipment.
  • Produce concise business cases for clients.
  • Produce Generation Impact Network Studies for defined sectors of the network to track progress of DG connections, monitor the impact to the EHV and upstream network and investigate reinforcement requirement
  • Lead and promote on health and safety and safe working systems procedures within the company.
  • Lead and manage on DNO grid connections process for installations.
  • Keep up to date on new products, services, procedures, and tools by self-learning and attending training, market changes and look for opportunities.
  • Any other duties as determined reasonable by your line manager.

The successful Electrical Engineer should meet the following criteria:

  • Working to a degree or Masters in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering. Candidates with an HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering with substantial experience will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of with electricity distribution networks at low and high voltage
  • Knowledge in electrical distribution network design and planning
  • Knowledge of design and specification for renewable and storage projects
  • Understanding of energy consumption and utilisation that will improve energy performance
  • Understanding of Distribution/Grid Code and National Grid Connection and Use of System Code (CUSC)
  • Understanding of services project delivery, together with notable projects across a variety of sectors in electrical services design
  • Foundation ability to develop designs conscious of energy conservation, sustainability and with a knowledge basis of renewable technologies
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • IT literate
  • Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Effective time management skills
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Experience in applying regulatory and client specific health and safety requirements to client proposals.

Circumstances

This role will be office and field based and therefore a clean current driving licence is essential and you should also be available to work additional hours as necessary.

Although not essential any of the following would be highly desirable:

  • Knowledge of IET Wiring Regulation 7671.
  • Knowledge of NIE Networks Generation Connection Processes and procedures
  • Neplan modelling software experience
  • Battery and PV design modelling experience
  • Electrical site survey experience
  • Experience in LV, HV or EHV Operational role
  • Experience of installing Fluke meters and interpreting the data
  • Able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions on developing design elements, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.
