Health & Safety Advisor – Construction Industry – £30 – £35K

Our Construction client based in Craigavon have an excellent opportunity for a passionate Health & Safety Advisor to join their team. This role has the potential to be very flexible and therefore Part-time options may be available.

Having been in operation for over 30 years this company have gone from strength to strength and are continuing to grow their company year on year.

The Responsibilities of the Health & Safety Advisor will include but not be limited to:

  • Managing the Quality (ISO 9001) Health and Safety (ISO 45001) and Environmental (ISO 14001) systems and take lead when conducting annual audits.
  • Preparation of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires and Sub Contractor Agreements
  • Creation of structured site files to comply with CDM 2016 (NI) regulations.
  • Maintain all training records and certificates and ensure that appropriate grants are claimed from the Construction Industry Training Board.
  • Ensure that all sub-contractors were valid with insurances and correct training.
  • Inductions for new members of staff
  • Site Health & Safety audits including site visits on a regular basis – Reporting finding and liaising with the client to rectify issues that may have been found.
  • Accident investigation and reporting (including forwarding reports to HSENI as appropriate)
  • Organise utilities (BT, NIE, Water Service etc) for all new contracts and liaise with Building Control where required.
  • Preparation of site Health & Safety files at the start of each new contract – Construction Phase Health and Safety Plans
  • End of contract files for handover at the end of each contract – Gathering all information relevant to the scheme and relay to the client for future reference
  • Organise annual testing of fire extinguishers and Pat Testing of electrical equipment.
  • Liaise with waste carriers to extract waste of site but to also track to report waste usage for current schemes and to report on an annual basis for our ISO 14001 Environmental audits.
  • Create and develop risk assessments, COSHH assessment, method statements, toolbox talks and were applicable SSOW (safe systems of work).

Requirements

The successful Health & Safety Advisor will meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum of 3 years working in a Health & Safety position, ideally within a construction environment.
  • You will have strong knowledge of ISO Standards
  • You will have excellent communication skills be an analytical problem solver
  • Although not essential a NEBOSH Qualification would be highly advantageous
